I've ran it a year with no problems and you can either remove it before bringing it in for service (it's 3 clips and takes 5 min to do yourself) or leave it on.
Since my car is out of warranty, BMW dealership is charging an absurd amount of money. I've attached BMW's repair estimate. Even after all the repair, they cannot guarantee that it'll fix my car's issue. The service advisor said, "First page is what we will have to begin with. If the problem still is not fixed page 2 would be next step."
iTrader: ( 0) F30 N26 White Smoke on startup - dealer service summary. My '13 F30 328i (N26), 48k miles, was emitting a puff of white smoke on start up, the longer the car sat between starts the more smoke it emitted. An overnight sit was a small puff, 4-5 days was a large plume ! As the warranty was about to expire I took it in to the dealership.
Depends on the month bmw switched production somewhere in 2015 but I would just try to find a car with the b48 engine as it is much more reliable. The later N20 engines don't habe suddenly snapping chains. They still have wearing chains that require replace every 200k to 250k km. Wastegate, waterpomp problems and more.
33,000 Miles on a 2013 N26. No issues whatsoever, but I have a Certified Pre-Owned BMW Warranty should anything arise. I keep an eye on the timing chain, but I'm extra picky. There must be half a dozen BMW's at work with the N20/26 and nobody I've talked to has has mentioned an engine issue yet. I see the same BMW's at work every day.
Less common causes are dirty or sluggish blower motor and faulty mode door actuator. 1. Clogged cabin air filter. Dirty AC filter is the leading cause of weak AC airflow in BMW 3 Series. The pollen filter, also known as the cabin air filter or microfilter, is responsible for filtering the air that the passengers breathe in the cabin.
Both are exceptional for the class. In Edmunds performance testing, a manual-equipped 328i sedan covered zero to 60 in 5.9 seconds, while an automatic 328i M Sport did it in 5.4 seconds -- in both

Transmission Troubles. BMW’s 8-speed automatic transmission helps make the 328i feel responsive, but some owners experience issues with the complex gearbox: 1. Harsh Shifting. Sporadic harsh shifting is a prevalent complaint among 2013 328i owners. The transmission may exhibit abrupt and jerky shifts between gears at low speeds.
